In Karmic, the physical volume control worked after installation with no
tweak required. The volume is now at a good enough volume to be passable
(i.e. watch a movie without headphones). It is certainly not as loud as it

Same here, dpkg is very slow. I don't know if it's related to this bug,

Those options do not work when KMS is in use, they need to be done
directly in the kernel with radeon module options. If you want to
continue using them in xorg.conf, you can get the old functionality by
booting with radeon.modeset=0 added to your kernel command line and then
they will work.

I too have ran into fullscreen applications where it would be convenient
if the ctrl+return alt+tab or ctr+shift+esc or ctr+alt+backspace either
(respectively) minimized, tabbed to the desktop or other window, killed
the current fullscreen app, or brought up a task manager GUI to easily
kill
Hmmm. I'm unable to get more info. I can confirm these facts:
* I believe it is a resume failure. The system appears to get into the right
mode (pulsing power led), but when it comes back up it hard locks with the HD
led constant.
* It is reproducible 100%
* The caps lock key does not flash

On my IBM x31 notebook there is no corruption but window manager crashes
constantly and windows lose decoration.
I am running lucid with 2.6.32-16 kernel and ambient theme enabled. The DRM ppa
dosen't fix it.

As a sidenode: PackageKit is a common layer on top of the native package
managers. The PackageKit backend used in Kubuntu is based on apt. So
nobody is rewritting something from scratch. This is nonsense.
Since the currently tracked 0.5 branch of PackageKit won't allow any API
changes this issue
I am using a 64 bit system and had the same problem.

so please update the DEP3 header.
Also, you deleted part of the original patch (the second part). Can you fix the
patch?
