Shouldn't this bug be filed under libmtp8 package instead, since
apparently that's the source of the problem. Using libmtp8 from karmic
is a workaround, not a solution.

I have had the problem in every kde since 4.0.x (Kubuntu distro). Have
music in both ntfs and ext4 filesystems.
NTFS-3g is "2010.3.6 external FUSE 28" (output of ntfs-3g --version)
Is there a need to have something special in fstab?

Good work, the patched package from the PPA seems to install without
problems now on my system (Lucid Lynx amd64). It works for the most
part, however it did indeed seemed to cause the Flash-plugin to hang on
sound output (as was already mentioned by Jason). This would probably
need to be fixed for

I am having problems with the 830m chipset in my dell 2600, using the
release version of lucid. adding "i915.modeset=0" does not solve
anything, nor does "nomodeset." (using both doesn't work either.)

when I configured the plugin and removed all notification settings
everything worked fine again.

Yeah, same story over and over again. Soon after one bug has been fixed
or a community workaround has been found, the device (or Ubuntu?) fails
again. I've upgraded from 9.10 64bit to 10.04 64bit. It happens here
exactly the same way as you (André Barmasse and GM_Ubuntu) describe it
in msg #38 and

Yes, it's possible. I'm not sure though. The problem I now have is that
it doesn't happen after every reboot (anymore?), but occasionally. What
I can say is that it hasn't happen since I installed the latest
