Running 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04 on identical hardware as well.
However, I've had the laptop hooked up to my TV now (via VGA cable) for
several hours with mirror screens and haven't had the problem at all -
the TV does not support 1366x768, so both screens are now set to
1360x768 instead. Nothing
for those who need a linux box - the latest vmware fusion (3.x.x) runs
ubuntu 9.10 flawlessly. the trial version is free for 30 days so that

I think there's absolutely no need to further diagnose this issue. It
has been diagnosed, acknowledged and fixed months ago by the upstream
kernel developers. All you need to fix this issue for karmic kernel is
to apply the very simple patch that I linked in the original posting.

I can confirm and reproduce this bug on Lucid 32bit.
1. Boot Ubuntu
2. Insert DVD
3. Remove DVD by pushing the hardware button on the DVD-ROM
4. Inserting another DVD triggers the bug. I can get rid of it by restarting
Ubuntu
If I click on the eject-Button in Nautilus instead the hardware

When I login notification area icons appears (decorated by WM) centered
on screen, just to disappear right after. After that a new window is
spawned witch once again disappear.
The icon windows will keep flashing in the middle of the screen
Upgraded to Lucid two weeks ago. Everything runs smooth since then.
