Sorry, I misspoke, I do have fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu4 installed, looking
in synaptic, but I still can't install fglrx, even though my resolution
is very high and not 1024-768, which leads me to think a partial upgrade
happened somewhere along the way, but didn't fully install the ati
drivers,

After installing the latest updates, my workaround had been removed by
packet installlations and I had the same issue as before. So I added the

on the disk, 2) GRUB loads the kernel image in initrd to a ramdisk filesystem

I need to clarify, I uninstalled the xserver-xorg-video-ati and
xserver-xorg-video-radeon packages from synaptic, not just searched
for them. Having two ati drivers packages installed was probably causing
errors and preventing me from installing fglrx, as well as having to
rename /usr/share/ati
Regarding the update, I just burnt the bootable CD available from the lenovo
site... Boot it, the rest is all pretty straight forward. Reading the readme
file could also be useful. -- Have no fear ;)

Alright, I have this issue with my Fujitsu T4020D. Ubuntu will work, but
it will freeze after a while because it is overheated. I tried other
distros of linux and had NO issues at all. I just didn't keep them
because i would prefer windows over those other linux distros. I will

The kernel issue that caused this problem is fixed in Lucid. I can
confirm that VirtualBox (3.2.4) running on Lucid with Win XP and Win 7
guests runs quite nicely now with VT-x enabled with 2 CPU's defined on
my Intel Core 2 Duo P8700. Probably safe to mark this bug as such.

Disabling visual effects (System - Preferences - Appearance - Visual
Effects) helped a bit, but image is still incorrect, when motion happens
on the screen, there are strange stripes around it. Anyway, I bought an
Nvidia card becaus was tired to fix the problems with that integrated

Interesting. I just installed a fresh Ubuntu 10.04 server and the
tomcat_* plugins do not work and I suspect I have to manually install
the missing package. Appears to have been fixed does not sound right
to me.

Hi David!
I'm one of those who requested this behavior.
I was stunned by the fact that, as a normal user, I couldn't do such
simple tasks as formatting my usb memory stick which had stopped
working.
In a modern system, you should be able to right click and select
Format... and just do it.

In fact I found out that at least AR5001 ASPM will be disabled automatically if
kernel is compiled with
CONFIG_PCIEASPM it will be disabled.
Maveric kernel *is* compiled with CONFIG_PCIEASPM, therefore the card
should work out of box.

Just adding a +1 for experiencing this bug. Also want to reiterate
earlier comments that this bug does not provide a user with a warm and
fuzzy feeling during the boot sequence. Frankly, it makes this LTS
release look like a beta.
