Ok had a quick look at this option. Seems it got enabled as part of
rebasing forward for Maverick. It seems that for v2.6.36 that this
version of the diable was deprecated in favour of a better mechanism,
and in that commit they note that it did not work so well either:

Ok using Michaels analysis as a basis I have spun a more comprehensive
patch to ensure the root disk is unpacked in its entirety before any
userspace helper is triggered. As I have no hardware which exhibits
this behaviour I have been unable to confirm that the patch is complete
or indeed fixes

This needs to work with xulrunner-2.0, as we will drop 1.9.2 for natty
release. I'd appreciate it if people grab me on IRC, and I will help get
