@Alex, no, it's not the unity wrapper script:

- We didn't have the wrapper in unity 0.2 under maverick.
In addition, the wrapper is just a tool for development, it's not used
for starting unity in natty on installed system.

Note that the xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd package is obsolete. All
radeon cards use the xserver-xorg-video-ati (radeon) driver for 2D, mesa
for 3D and the kernel for modesetting in most cases. r300_dri.so is part
of the mesa OpenGL libraries.

This bug is still valid for 10.10 - KDE copies the file instead of just
opening it with the video player (stream the video file). This happens
also with any other media file, not just video files.
There is a temporary solution, however. The solution is to add the following
line:
I forgot to say I am running kubunt 10.10 with kernel 2.6.35-25-generic.
