I have this same problem on a clean Ubuntu Natty installation with
encrypted LVM (similar to comment #6). A possible cause can be that the
fonts and other information GRUB loads from places other than /boot are
not accessible at the boot time because they are located in the
encrypted partition.
just to point out I have had no problems since I replaced some ram which
failed totally - after completing memtest and other ram tests fine -
looks like it showed errors only with grub2 while it was pre-failure
which is bizzare. Have since changed ram to another make entirely
(corsair xms2) after
Yes, that's it.
I just fixed it upstream (b479845f) and now I see you were faster :-) thanks

freeze -- there's just nothing in it that would affect nm-applet to the
point of freezing the whole system.
I notice there's been a few suspend and resume cycles in the logs you
attached, maybe this has something to do with
Yes. I think so given my experience with it... The touchpad is utterly
useless and unless we can find another E6510 to either verify or refute
that, it should fail.

I just experienced the same problem with Xubuntu 10.04 LTS. Happend
while using firefox, did a reboot, all back to normal. dmesg did not
show anything suspicious as far as i can tell.
After all it seems to be a problem with some build-in graphic cards. See

Binary package hint: unity
After removing Banshee via the Ubuntu Software Center, a Banshee Media
Player icon was still displayed in the launcher and in the dash.
Logging out and then logging back in did not resolve the problem.
