I have the same laptop and have the same problem when i updated the
Kernel.
I've been running 2.6.35.22 which has no problems.
I initially updated to 2.6.38-8 which i thought at first had failed, but
noticed the screen was only usable (and i use that word very lightly) in
direct sunlight.

I had the same problem on Windows 7 with Tomboy 1.6.0. It was caused by the two

I compiled and updated lxpanel to 0.5.8 in my box and the issue has been fixed.
Or at least I couldn't reproduce it anymore.
I had to install libgtk2.0-dev, libmenu-cache1-dev and intltool packages
in order to compile it, but it was worth the hassle.

Open eight LibreOffice windows and one PCManFM window. Now try to close several
LibreOffice windows doing "Right click -> Close" in the lxpanel.
That's it. The panel freezes and you have to open a new terminal window
to close it and open a new instance.

Thanks for the ok Michael and here is my report.
Purged deja-dup and autoremoved the other too. Reinstalled all.
Open dash - more applications - installed 'show more results..', a 'safe' icon
appears - but - it opens gnome-control-center. Deja-dup isn't in g-c-c.
On dash it calls 'Datensicherung'
I was able to confirm this behavior using the steps to reproduce you

When I use compiz (in unity and kde) Performances are horrible, when I
use normal resize, I get about two frame second. When I switching
workspace using ctrl alt + key, my fps drop to 20 and the same thing
when I move the scrollbar overlay (without grab it) also, the v-sync is

And this isn't a regression, the update from 2.6.38-8.42 doesn't touch
this area, seems the issue happens by "luck", some code shuffle or
anything else (timing?) may be made the issue more likely to happen on
