case the bug is a little bit more extreme because I'm not able to start
rhythmbox at all, it just constantly crashes with the following debug-

I find it very frustrating to have to click on the battery icon to see
how much battery I have left since the icon is so obscure. If it was a
percentage, that'd be even better.
But, more to the point of my post:

The design decision here several release cycles ago was to require the
'biosdevname=1' boot parameter to use this facility. I still prefer
this, and would need a strong rationale for changing it as I believe a
change would break a good deal of established behaviour.
