I did a clean install Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit yesterday (official release). The
bug still persist.
This makes the laptop unusable to e.g. stream videos, or uncompressed audio
from my LAN server.

I can also reproduce the problem. The problem is that /proc mounts and
unmounts before the kernel is installed, and the kernel package assumes
/proc is mounted. Here's some log actions:

Same problem for me with lubuntu 12.04 i386 iso,
and indeed purging ubiquity-slideshow-lubuntu worked around the problem.
Since the slideshow is only cosmetic, maybe ubiquity could show a small warning

Hi,
I have installed kubuntu 12.10, my videocard is:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV610
video device [Radeon HD 2400 PRO]
Jockey says No propriwetary drivers are in use on this system
When i install fglrx from muon and reboot the desktop seems to use
This bug is stil here in 12.10.
Is there any chance to get if fixed instead of worked around?

Am I correct in understanding that this fix does not restore the gnome-
session-save program, which allows saving a session in progress without

What's your version of rar and unrar?
rar in Ubuntu repo is broken for recent versions.
Not sure about 10.10, though.
