@Raymond : the link you posted point to a similar problem. It appears
that if the driver does not recognize the speakers connected to the rear
panel "green" jack if does not set the GPIO pin to 1. I'll try some
different speaker models to see if its a hardware issue with the USB

Seems I am very close to resolving this bug. I've done some deep testing today
under following OSes (all are in the newest version):
1) CentOS 6.3
2) Fedora 17
3) openSUSE 12.2
4) Ubuntu 12.04

Happy to say, it's working for me now. Just went through my bash
history to see if I had actually made any changes to the system, but I
can't see any. Tried another reboot and power-manager is working and
suspend when lid closed is, too.
Hope this is not an intermittent problem as appears to be

"Russian", they are switched by pressing Alt+Shift (the default).
If automatic login is enabled and I get logged in when the system
starts, without entering my password on the login screen, everything
