I'm using Quantal, Kernel 3.5.0-17-generic . The problem still occurs
for me. Using ext4. I've replaced the Hard DIsk five times. It occurs
with my 3 Western Digital Caviar Blacks (1 TB 64 MB cache), and with my
Caviar Green (1.5 TB, 64 MB cache), and also (at least until now) my old
Seagate Barrac

My first reaction is to ask whether the people experiencing this are
using an lsb_release that has the proper -Es flags on its #! line.

After a period of inactivity it seems that the Turbo mode is not kicking
in. It has been found as a bug in i915 driver code and has been fixed in
the upstream kernel.org in the following commit -

Ubuntu installation, install it in the CSM mode (BIOS compatibility mode
- should be an option in your system BIOS configuration). As many people
pointed out here, laptops do get bricked under certain circumstances in
the UEFI mod
xnox tested the new clutter-gst-2.0 which I'm about to upload and it
fixes this problem for him. I think it's possible there are multiple
bugs here, so if someone continues to experience similar issues please
do file another bug.
