It turned out to be an apparmor issue. As I was having my mysql data in
a different location during update ls -la
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld was overwrriten. This resulted in error.
after correcting that file every thing is back to normal.

It looks like the panic only occurs when updating libc6. I found this
out because usually after the panic, I run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a'
and I can continue the update, but since the last panic dpkg starts by
configuring libc6, and then the panic occurs again. So at this point,

I have gparted 0.16.1 installed
I have 80 GB HDD. I had 3 partitions on it:
38 GB for linux OS
2 GB for swap
40 GB for home
For performing some tasks I had to install windows. I
I am currently working with 3.11.0-031100rc1-generic. This kernel
freezes some times but is more stable than the other versions.
Especially 3.11-rc-2 and 3.11.rc3 are extremely worst. I got freezes with these
kernels several times a day.
3.11.0-031100rc1 seems to work stable for 1-2 days, what
I've noticed that I can reproduce this (the unresponsive categories, not
the inability to filter with the search) by having a bookmark which is a
symbolic link to a directory on an unmounted NTFS volume. I am highly
unfamiliar with how the menu works, but it looks like it might have
trouble with
OK.
Just tested with Natty, and the devices paired, but impossible to use
them. On bluetooth windows, devices never get in bold (indicating that
they are working).

This is really bizarre barry. Have you been able to reproduce this, or
was it just a one-off? I can't reproduce it at all, typing exactly say
hell into the text box or anything else for that matter.

Timo Jyrinki is just BRILLIANT! Thank You. After many months of
tinkering with this, trying other distros (and even using Windows 8!),
this simple tut sorted it all out. Now I'm connected to wifi, at good
speed, and it's not dropping the signal either. Excellent Stuff!
