disabled (and NetworkManager just reflects this state, and can
manipulate it). `mmcli -e` enabled a modem and also causes the

I performed a fresh install of 13.10 64-bit on my Dell E6520, and was
running into this freeze issue at the login screen or even shortly after
logging in. Eventually, a terminal like screen would appear with
nouveau error messages. Much like comment #46 above, I was able to do
the following:

No packages yet, rsalveti is going to do the MR reviews and we should be
able to get packages after he approves and merges some things upstream.

the offer given that this is a pretty large change set.

It's a slightly different problem, I guess, but in Kubuntu 13.10 the
shutdown does not complete for me. It stops with the message "Stale NFS
file handle". I suppose this is a different bug because it involves
NFS, not CIFS.

I tried the standard xubuntu startup disk creator (KDE?). I fries formatting
the USB drive also. But it didn't help. Using unetbootin did the job in the
end. That was yesterday.

Robie: I have verified updating /usr/share/maas/preseeds/generic works.
I re-deployed a new node and saw that the time is correct. Thank you for
the workaround.
I would still like to see what Debian's recommendation is on the
upstream bug, whenever they decide to examine it.
