applications in the unity search. It simply says Sorry there is nothing
that matches your search. I am still able to search for files. No
applications are shown when pressing the super key and going to the
@Alberto - I understand that you do not support the NVidia installer. I
mentioned it as a workaround as that is what I needed to get my system
working again without the blur and I needed to go back to being
productive. I was thinking with Bill's information with the blur and
mine without that
I was able to logon today where it asked for my network's password. It's
connected now but my network has nothing to do with it.

Thanks. Yes, Ubuntu appears to output to both (all?) digital inputs

I just attempted a USB install from the server iso as well. And ran

large PDF file via rdesktop; finally located error messages in kern.log
today. Symptom is sudden loss of network connection. Both systems
involved must be shut down, allowed to cool for several minutes, then

Sorry, false alarm: The version I mentioned (1.4.0-0~49~precise1) was
installed decades ago from a PPA and has the compile date 2012-12-31.
With the standard Ubuntu version it works now.
$ apt-cache policy me-tv:
Installed: 1.4.0-0~49~precise1
Candidate: 1.4.0-0~49~precise1
Version table:
I tried
sudo aptitude install gnome-settings-daemon
and it worked for me.
It uninstalled gnome-compiz and when I executed the same command a second time
everything worked.
Now apt-get upgrade is working again.

As I wrote above, the problems started during the upgrade from 13.10 --
14.04 but not before the upgrade from kernel 3.11 (as in saucy) to 3.13
(as in trusty). Kernel 3.11 from 13.10 works under 14.04 without
problems!
While the lsmod output states that all relevant kernel modules
icedtea does not work because NPAPI was dropped in 34. It will happen no
matter what we do, but pulling it into 14.04 3 days before release is
not the way to do it.

Same problem here on a Thinkpad x60, Ubuntu 14.04 English and Hungarian

written under the assumption there is exactly one device that needs to
be decrypted for root to be mounted, which can be very wrong for btrfs.

Just upgraded to Trusty.
When I am viewing the library and type a search term, clementine does
not filter the list below. It has rescanned the library but just seems
to go into high CPU because of that search. Greyes out for minutes, but
no search filter even if CPU comes
I found a way to get out of the stuck or freeze. Press your key that
opens dash (windows key if pc-keyboard) + ESC. That works for me at
least.

option I am givin is Toronto. When I set my city as Quebec City or

According to apt.conf(5) man page, the only valid comments in apt config
files are:
Lines starting with // are treated as comments (ignored), as well as
all text between /* and */, just like C/C++ comments.
There are comments in debian/apt.conf.autoremove
I have the same problem, but have managed to complete the upgrade from
12.04 to 14.04 using:
sudo echo ``mdadm hold'' | dpkg --set-selections
followed by:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
