I have great news! The system is now booting properly! No more 20
minute wait to login! I noticed it with the update to the 4.4.0-42
kernel. So, this issue might have been fixed with either that kernel
update or the previous, 4.4.0-38 kernel update.

this software better. This particular crash has already been reported
and is a duplicate of bug #1588346, so is being marked as such.
It appears this is actually because glib2.0 is not compiled with
--enable-debug so I'm reassigning this to glib2.0 and lowering the
importance to wishlist as a new "feature".
I'm also attaching an ancient Debian bug asking for this compile option.

I see this bug's quite old, but I can confirm it on Ubuntu 14.04.
After linking '~/.local/share/Trash/files' to '~/trash:' I get directed to the

I tried to see the boot log by removing "quiet splash" from the command
line as well as setting the gfxmode to "text". Nothing showed up on the
black screen apart from a pulsating "_".

I'm in a desktop ubuntu 16.10. When I use the unity 8 preview and I
resize a window the system freezes. It happens when resizing various
applications, for example ubuntu gallery and the ubuntu browser. I
expect that the system simply resize the window, but the system freezes.
