I did not have time to try other kernels with 16.04 but I did upgrade to
16.10 and the computer is now able to suspend after being released from

Hello Jean,
I have had many difficulties trying to find the right match between a distro,
driver and this card.
I have finally settled with debian jessie (linux 3.16) and this easy
installable driver : https://github.com/tobiasBora/MT7630E_3.16
I am using xfce, installed blueman and pulse audio
Will this bug ever fixed? It still exists in Ubuntu Gnome 16.10. And it
extremely annoying. Possible workaround: use MS Windows.
