So it appears that the mpt2sas driver is heavily spamming kernel
messages and this causes a massive backlog. The low-latency kernel
trying to log these to the backing store and this is causing more load.
I've changed the messages to be pr_err_ratelimited and the issue goes
away. I'll send a fix

I got another automated crash prompt to come up. This generated

not a frequent Octave user (once every few months). I updated to 18.04
a couple of months ago and tried running octave today only to find that
it would not start from my command line. Instead, I see:

Thanks for the tests Lonnie. So it looks like it's a bug that was fixed
in chromium 69 (and you were not seeing it in chrome because the latest
stable release is 69 already, whereas I'm in the process of updating the
chromium packages to 69 in Ubuntu).

I am also having this issue, system fully updated, nvidia-driver-396,
GTX 1050Ti, kernel 4.15.0-33-generic. Also happens with nvidia-
driver-390. The fix for me was #123:
sudo service gdm stop ; sleep 5 ; sudo service gdm start
This is definitely not fixed.
