Ok, I did not manage to figure this one out yet, but I did find
something interesting. The windows actually scale differently depending
on whether the panel is extended or not. You can just install dconf-
editor and go to /org/gnome/shell/extensions/dash-to-dock and toggle
extend-height in order

The thing is that dash-to-dock also adopts Ubuntu Dock settings, since
that is what Ubuntu Dock is based on. So if I remove Ubuntu Dock, for
example, but then install dash-to-dock, it actually starts in panel
mode. (that is not a default) The fact that this bug does not seem to
I attempted to replicate this bug on Fedora 30 in a VM by installing
dash-to-dock and enabling panel mode, but the previews do scale properly
there. So strange...
In Ubuntu, you can easily replicate this bug by installing Ubuntu 19.10
in a VM and just launching Firefox, Files, and Rhythmbox. As
@vanvugt in case Robert is right, could you move this to dash-to-dock
launchpad? Or do you prefer me to create a new issue (and maybe another
one at https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues)?

I had previously installed Gimp-Gutenprint as the driver for the
printer, via the control panel, and in fact going via Gimp File Print
gets a print, with the Gutenprint options in the "ordinary" print
dialogue. I'm not sure it is quite so good though, so far, and I don't
have the icc profile

The upstream bug was closed on 2019-06-08 saying that the Preferences
menu item was visible using gnote 3.32.1 in Fedora.
I can confirm that the Preferences menu item is visible in Ubuntu 19.10
(dev) where gnote 3.32.1-1 is now available.
