Well, 3.1 has been out for months now. It's in Debian but failing to
migrate to maverick for some reason out of our control.
Meanwhile my PPA is being kept up with the Debian release.

Debian has 3.1.x releases in the repositories for some months now. Including
several weeks with a package in Testing repository.
Yet even Maverick still does not contain a copy of the package.

squid-3.0 series has nothing to do with IPv6. both disable and enable
are missing and irrelevant.
squid-3.0 series support is TPROXYv2 only and is not able to be used or
even built against the Lucid kernel which supports a minimum of
TPROXYv4.
The newer 3.1 series Squid is required for both IPv6
3.0 packages have been built with that helper for some time. However,
none of the documentation about the 3.0 version was correctly named.
Check you system for a binary called squid_db_auth in the libexec
directory with the other squid helpers.

I'm stuck with karmic for now unfortunately. I have kept up with the karmic
updates hoping this would disappear at some point.
But yes it's still occuring several times a day (with the latest karmic
kernel). Will try the mainline.

The only issue that is unclear is whether the package is on automatic-
import from Debian Testing.
Also, the package version in lucid is quite old and will need another
re-sync. I expect just prior to the April 15th translations deadline. We
should have more texts pushed through Debian QA by then.

Can anything be done to better streamline the import of this particular package
from Debian to Ubuntu?
The content installed is non-executable and relatively volatile localization
texts. The schedule Debian keeps is already on the outer border of slow for
spreading corrections.
