. Shouldn't these modules be installed when the
Atheros card is found?
sudo dhclient ath0 fails to connec with the same output which I
previously reported. Is 2.6.17 using the new madwifi while 2.6.15 is
using the old madwifi?
Thanks,

I had this too, twice. I edited the line on mine:

It was like this with the semicolon missing and the remainder of the

This was working when I first installed kernel 2.6.17-8 fixing the
problem which had occurred in 2.6.17-7. I just did a dist-upgrade and
the problem is back again:

Thanks. 2.6.17-8 fixed the problem of symbol errors.

The question is: What is in ~/.local/share/mime that is causing the
problem. I assume that some of that stuff in there is useful and should
be there.

Also changing the file's name will allow it to open:
Double-click linuxreality031.ogg. It fails with the message.
Rename it to linuxreality31.ogg - no change in the extension, just a new
name. Double-click and it opens.

I've upgraded dapper to edgy and have been getting that message on .wav,

I went ahead and installed the 2.6.17-6 kernel and restricted modules,

except that I do not get a splash screen with the 2.6.15 kernel. I

I downloaded the file right to my desktop. When I left-clicked on it,

A little more information. I'm running beagle. When I search on files
.wav, .ogg, .png, or .jpg they all show as documents. When I search on
a file that is .jpeg or .gif, they show as an image. .mp3 shows as
audio.

I have the restricted modules for my kernel. I uninstalled the kernel
and modules for the 2.6.17 kernels, because I couldn't get my wifi to
work with that kernel and with each upgrade I was getting grub menu.lst
overwritten and pointing to the wrong partition.
I had done a backup of dapper
Preview may be the wrong word. I am not getting icons for the images.
However, I have found that if I go into KDE and view the folder/Desktop
in konqueror, when I go back into Gnome, I see the icon.
I also note that there are no icons for .wav, .doc, .mp3, or .html.
There used to be. So now it
I'm not comparing this to Dapper, but I'm seeing 70-80% cpu usage for
xorg. If I open a program like Thunderbird, it drops to 60% until the
program loads and then goes back up to 80%. At one point there was 45%
xorg and 45% nautilus. I killed nautilus, it reloaded, and then xorg

Shortly after I reported the 80% cpu usage of Xorg, I ran gnome-sudoku.
After play, the program began to send a bug report. After that was
completed, I noticed that Xorg was using under 10% cpu as expected. I
have no idea what caused the change, but I had done nothing but play
that game for 10

Actually I didn't edit anything. I just updated xserver-xorg-core and
when I rebooted the xserver fails to start. It also will not start with

I tried using a working xorg.conf from a livecd (Mepis) but that did not
solve the problem. I do not even get a login, just a notice that the

be not with gnome-pilot. Where should this bug be filed?
