first of all, in "Region and Language settings" there are some shortcuts options
"Switch to next source" is set to ctrl+space, but it seems to do nothing
(btw, these shortcut was used to activate ibus/anthy befor

Your thought may be correct in my opinion, because in my case I can see that
Compiz effects loading takes a *very* long time after I login. The desktop
background appears, and gnome-do gets launched immediately, but the menu at the
top of the screen isn't present until the effects start to run,

It was also noticed in the post he linked by Chauncellor himself, that visiting
Launchpad website in Firefox may slow down effects again... (I'm writing this
from office in Windows, so I can't reproduce right now!)

Just an update regarding the new kernel update: I saw the new version (2.31.17)
in the last group of updates in Updates Manager, so I followed the instructions
you suggested to grab the backtrace, but after reboot... nothing!
There were just NO crashes, neither in compiz, nor anything else.

Well, I will get the Debug symbols as you wrote me down, thanks.
Reproducing the bug could be a little bit harder instead, because I suppose it
happened concomitantly with these facts: a kernel upgrade, and the subsequent
driver update.
Do I have to wait a new kernel upgrade to need the update of
