I'd like to confirm this on 12.04 with 13.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1.
I'm seeing the same from chrome too, which is very odd. A reboot seems
to have cleared it, leap second maybe?

Hi,
I just upgraded to Precise, the problem is in xbmc-live.postinst:
if [ $release -ge 1010 ]; then
sed -i '/^user=*/ s/^/#/' /etc/uxlaunch/uxlaunch
sed -i '/^tty=*/ s/^/#/' /etc/uxlaunch/uxlaunch
sed -i '/^session=*/ s/^/#/'
I'm not sure why you have issues reproducing this from the bug report.
I'm still on Lucid, so:
wget
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/+source/human-icon-theme/0.36/+files/human-icon-theme_0.36.tar.gz
tar -xzf human-icon-theme_0.36.tar.gz
cd human-icon-theme
find -name '*start-here*'
display
The launchpad bug gives no technical reason why this isn't possible,
merely an assertion that this bug arises from the desire to handle a URL
inside braces, and that this bug should be fixed in launchpad.
Accordingly, I see no reason to mark this bug Invalid.

Huh? This is a bug, and you are forcing your choice of firefox on
everyone.
If firefox isn't installed, then this shows the incorrect application,
breaks gnome support for http urls and requires the user to dig through
to find this setting and fix it.
It'd be better to use gnome-www-browser
ffm: No, gnome-www-browser uses the debian alternatives system. It has
nothing to do with gnome.
seb128: There's nothing wrong with using deb specific solutions, you're derived
from Debian.
What's not ideal is that it's system rather than user specific, and not
integrated with gnome.

You're assuming that everyone is using ubuntu-desktop. That's not a good

The correct way to handle this then is to have the safe default in

This would keep things working for Ubuntu, while removing one item from
the list of things derivatives need to debug and change.
