On a current Ubuntu Oneiric Irssi shows the same behaviour of hanging
several times a day. Hanging means: The user interface completely
freezes. You cannot switch between windows. If it comes back up again
all entered keystrokes haven't been lost and are replayed.
Most times
I just noticed, the lag seems to occur during packet losses on the
connection towards the irc server.
It is, of course, reasonable the chat lags then irc does not show new
content, but I expect the user interface to be responsive.

I have a hint on the possible error: At least one of my albums has a
German Umlaut in it's title - it's called Fundstücke. This wouldn't be
the first time, that an Umlaut stops a Facebook plugin from working.
F-Spot for instance wsn't able to submit post comments with Umlauts.

I totally agree, that it'd be easy using gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg and
similar packages (libavg for instance) in GPL mode, but they aren't
released that way. Check http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/ for instance:

Tested on manually compiled upstream version 5.1.19 (Jaunty has 5.1.18)
- the crash does *NOT* occur there. Therefore versions prior to 5.1.19
seem to be affected.

Actually it's not the Message-Id - the problem is the To:-adress with
the : right before the ;. It seems this confuses the header counter
/ copy method.

issue for now as it clearly points out common network problems. Ssh
sessions often hang when using routers or network equipment which do not
respect idle connections and therefore need up to 30 seconds to come up
/ synch again.
@Caldrin: Thank you for writing the patch. Did you already build a
debdiff and filed it or is this your only version of it? Asking as this
needs more work before being integrated.

bug but rather normal behaviour. The trouble you are in is that special
characters need to be escaped. This are not only brackets, but also
white spaces like . So, if you want to transfer a file try this:
file name test[
