As Robert has mentioned we have tested installing the linux-backports-
modules-alsa-karmic-generic and rebooting, but that does not seem to
work. Please also note that HDMI audio is also an issue for this laptop,

Unfortunately that does not have to do with Ubuntu as much as it has to
do with the Linux Kernel, which is developed at kernel.org (separate
project). Ubuntu, or should I say Canonical only ensures correct
operation on certified hardware. Please stay subscribed to this bug and
update it

hardware. The correct driver should be assigned by the kernel
automatically. This bug explains that no driver is being assigned to
this hardware.
Unfortunately, I do not have this hardware to test if this has been resolved in

Hi Till,
There are no resolution options in the Print Dialog advanced tab, only
Output Control color, contract and brightness options.
Canon does not seem to support Linux as it does not offer a Driver/PPD
for this printer. This is the product page which shows that Mac and

We can confirm this with HP TouchSmart dx9000 which has the unnamed
touchscreen device on the USB bus as ID "1926:0003". This touchscreen
does not work out of the box. I figure "1926:0003" is the touchscreen
since it shows up in dmesg as NextWindow Touchscreen:

I think poofyyoda means it is a trivial fix. If so, can we have a gnome
developer take a look or perhaps we can enter it as an entry in the 100
paper cuts. This bug is important as it may block two users from sharing
files simply.

with the same model.
We have tested the Dell Dimension 2400 with an Ubuntu 9.04 LiveCD, and
there is still no sound.
