Hello,
I've got the same bug as Piotr.
When I start the PC after a long time power off, I've got no sound in Ubuntu
Karmic.
If I reboot the PC, the sound is back.
I compared the dmesg output, and when I've got any sound, I see the following
message :

I use this application for years (since Gutsy, the first ubuntu I installed)
None of the renammer provided in Ubuntu are as easy to use and complete as
Metamorphose.
The second version Metamorphose2 is also avaible on GetDeb and works fine on
Jaunty.

Removing the two files solves the problem, but only temporary !
I don't know how those files are created and why the are still present after
unmount all drives.
Maybe this the origin af the problem, are maybe only a consequence.

As it was described in bug #304567 , the missing file rgb.txt show a medium
bug importance.
It is not a simple whishlist ! As shown in bug #331375 , it affects several
application that are not obsolete like netpbm, xcolors and more.
Would it be possible to pass the bug as medium importance and

I've got the same problem on Xubuntu Intrepid 8.10 64 bits, with a Panasonic
Lumix DMC-TZ5.
It also appear as a DMC-FZ10, not detected as a digital photo camera.
An usb stick is mounted when connecting in usb, but the volume is read only
(I can see the message write protect is on in the dmesg

I don't know if gnome-mount is used on my system.
