I can confirm that this still happens on 12.04 LTS.
Adding the line to xorg.conf as suggested by Pierre Chifflier makes it
work correctly. I'm using proprietary drivers too.

I request this bug to be reopened. There ARE packages on Intrepid, but
their translations are those from KDE 3. KDE 4 translations have not
been successfully imported to Rosetta, therefore, there are only few
strings translated on KDE 4.

After installing Kubuntu Intrepid with language set to Catalan, most of
the applications strings are not translated. It looks like they have not
been imported to Launchpad Translations from the KDE project. The

KDE 4 translations have not been imported to Ubuntu yet. They had some
kind of strange problem with Rosetta and have to approve all changes

I have a Toshiba Satellite A110-180, with an Intel 945GM graphics card. When
choosing to shutdown, reboot or even suspend (hibernate is not affected) in
KDE, sometimes the screen gets black and the computer hangs. It shuts down or
reboots
I am having the same problem here, on a Toshiba Satellite A110-180. When
shutting down / rebooting from KDE, the only thing I get is a black screen, and
the computer stops there.
If I end the session in KDE and then in KDM I choose the shutdown / reboot
option, it shuts down / reboots
Thanks for the workaround, it works for me. Now let's see if it gets
solved.

Sincerely, I just can't understand why media:/ is being changed to
/media in Kubuntu. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KubuntuKDEMedia
Wouldn't it be better if all worked using the media:/ location like it
was doing in 3.5.4, but, in order to get the real location on the
location bar, only one thing
A possible workaround which I found is removing the Pager from the
panel, using right-click - Remove from panel - Applet - Pager, and
then adding it again. This way it remembers the configuration.
