I can confirm this "bug". It only happens after a reconnect with
"/quit".
After this the first tab (server i.e. irc.freenode.org) stays gray and displays
nothing. The connection is established, and after a while all channels are
entered.
After clicking on one channel-tab also the server-tab show
I can confirm this bug for gutsy gibbon with KDE 3.5.8.
It also happens when you stop a running download.
It would be nice to know if this bug exists further in KDE 3.5.9 and/or
KDE 4.0.2 and Hardy?

So I installed hardy today and installed kde4 to test it.
The first thing is: Even all fonts I can see are really horribly rendered, they
aren`t smoothed in any way.

Thanks to Sitsofe Wheeler, Kernel 2.6.20-14 is running well, with the
restricted nvidia drivers.
I just typed
sudo depmod
sudo /etc/init.d/kdm restart
and everything worked.
I hope this was just an Update-Problem an will no longer appear in the
final Release.
P.S.: I installed the nvidia drive

Finally I have sound too.
Compiled alsa-driver-1.0.15rc3
with "configure --with-cards=hda-intel,emu10k1
I think it is highly recommended to find a solution so this cards can
work out of the box. Because nearly all modern Laptops come with these
sound-cards and many many people will ran into this
Also the latest hint from dbrobert doen't changed anything.
Damn I liked Gutsy a the first glance.
But this Bug isn't critical because it doesn`t makes your system
unstable or unusable.

It IS a difference between clicking on tasks or e-mails/mailboxes in the
summary view.
When you click on a task, just after Kontact started, it crashes every time.
When you click on a mailbox, it crashes just about one out of twenty times.
