upstart normally is no longer used in 16.04, but this packages depends on it.
This package is the only one that keeps upstart installed on an xubuntu system.
This dependency should be removed.

affected by the bug reported here (no kvm, both with old and updated
BIOS) for 3.16.x utopic kernels, the problem appeared after short
uptimes of usually 1..2 day.

The root cause seems to be that the hal daemon does not start up
correctly. Seems that after the upgraded to 13.04 the directory /etc/hal
was incomplete. However, /usr/share/hal seems to be a reasonable

Same here on a thinkpad T400S.
I've tried upgrading the kernel to 3.6.3 and the graphical drivers with
xorg-edgers version to no avail.
Until this bug is fixed I added 'respawn' to the lightdm upstart script
so that it respawns until it works (sometime it works the first time,
sometimes the

I reported this bug against the precise version of okular where it is still
present and NOT fixed.
The bug may not be present in quantal, but this does not mean you can just set
it to fixed globally. Maybe the Affects clause of this bug needs to distinguish
between precise and quantal, but I
on the system where I had the problem I did this to verify the fix
- removed workarounds in main.cf
- sent emails and verified that they trigger the error and remain in the queue
- installed 2.9.3-2~12.04.4
- bug is gone, mail works normally

a pdf does not print correctly. It is a government form created with
Acrobat PDFMaker.
When printed with 'evince' on the same computer and same printer
everything is fine.
With okular, the first page is printed, the second page is not, instead this

When logging in to my headless server (Ubuntu server 12.10, byobu 5.21,
tmux 1.6) from my laptop (running Kubuntu 12.04.1, byobu 5.17, screen
