I'm not sure this is a teak problem or a generic font display problem.
The fact is that I'm trying to select a comfortable font using gnome-
tweak-tool and the font picker doesn't always display the fonts in the
same way. I attach two examples, taken with a couple of seconds
Managed to put my finger on the pattern. Had something to do with stored
passwords. Tried to import stored passwords with Chromium and the same
thing happened. It's probably a corrupted sqlite file. :-(
Moved away the firefox folder in .mozilla and the problem went away.

Since an update a couple of days ago, I have the same symptoms.
I log in normally, the desktop appears (with icons) but nothing else.
With right mouse click I can open a terminal, but windows have no
borders and no menus.
I removed my ~/.config/dconf and .config/compiz-1 and checked my

I'm using maverick in that laptop since it came out, and I always update

Since I reported this bug two things to note:
1. Logout no longer turns off the backlight permanently - the login screen
turns it on
2. CTRL-ALT-F1 does, but CTRL-ALT-F7 turns it on again - the system is usable
Also: Lucid beta 1 still is affected

UPDATE: Since the new kernel didn't show up in the grub boot menu I
tried to do update-grub by hand. It was worse.
update-grub insists in maintaining a menu.lst and seems to ignore
whatever is in the /etc/grub.d directory. Now, my grub boot menu only
has two kernels and the other OSses that are
Found the problem: somehow grub2 was uninstalled and old grub was
installed. I can't say for sure when that happened. I don't recall doing
it, neither having any reason to do it. :-(
