I ssh into another computer with X11-forwarding and compression to run
some programs. My $DISPLAY is automatically set to "localhost:10.0" or
the like and I can successfully run xterm and xeyes and all those
programs. When I try to run evince, I get "Segmentation fault

I agree with Tom White in comment #3. Synaptic has a category titled
Amateur Radio -- it is that set of applications which should be under
the Amateur Radio subcategory in the USC. Apps like Last.fm and
Spotify are related to broadcast radio and do not belong with the
amateur radio apps.

If dpkg can't be paused, perhaps a throttle option to USC which limits
the bandwidth used by dpkg? This would achieve the goal specified by
the original requestor and not interfere too directly with dpkg itself.

Both computers exhibit the same result. I am using an HP Officejet
J6480 configured via HPLIP which worked on previous Ubuntu installs, and
a freshly installed cups-pdf

When I log out or shut down while the sound is muted, the next time I
log in the sound indicator shows a non-muted icon but selecting the
sound applet shows that the sound itself is muted.

The network-manager-gnome package is version
0.8.1+git.20100809t190028.290dc70-0ubuntu3 (maverick).
I configured a new wireless network via the applet. Instead of
connecting me to the wireless network, the applet crashed.

10.10 UNE install warning window too big

I downloaded the 10.10 UNE beta and put it on a USB stick then tried to
install it on my EeePC 8G. When I chose 'install' at the first screen,
I was treated to a large window with the title 'Install' and 'Warning'
in large font, then a bunch of text that was mostly* bolded
As suggested on #ubuntu, I used tab to guess at the OK button that was
off the screen to move forward.
This same size issue applies to the Welcome screen and the Preparing to
Install Ubuntu-Netbook screen. I stopped there because frankly it's
nerve-wracking enough to install an operating system
