on kubuntu 8.04.1 with KDE4.1 x86_64. After a random amount of time
(anything from few hours to a day or two) after login in the
application launcher menu (and the application launcher as wel)
widget stops working, it still looks fine and displays all the normal
apps etc but
option seems to slow down significantly the GUI (wireless 54Mbps
network), maybe this is the cause ?
When launching firefox --sync locally, there is no problem (no slow
down of the GUI).

Video files in Matroska container (*.mkv files) are identified with the
wrong mime type in hardy : application/x-extension-mkv (which I guess
just mean file with a mkv extension I don't know of) instead of
application/x-matroska. This causes many problems : file association

directory.
It seems like there were entries for *.mkv files in my personnal mime
database that were masking the system one and causing this bug. I don't

The bug is still there in hardy and I understand multiverse's packages' bugs
are now tracked here.
The problem lies within mplayer's desktop file and is very easy to fix : The
line gmplayer %U has to be changed to gmplayer %F.
%U means the program accepts multiple URIs on the command line,

reported it in an update. I'm currently running Hardy on the same
hardware with no problems. I'll try the livecd when I can.

About ftp urls : gnome-open freezes on them (does'nt do anything but does'nt
terminate either), evolution freezes when clicking on an ftp:// links in an
email, nautilus can't open ftp folders anymore, etc.
So, this is already a while ago...
but I think that this was related to a Hardware problem.

big in the tty's (not in xfce) that the lines are broken and use of the CLI is
very difficult.
Furthermore, the active section of the screen is only about 50% of the physical

Looks like there is a typo in the command ...
I suppose the command actually is :
sudo dpkg --configure -a
I ran that, but it didn't appear to do anything !
I suspect the upgrade job was kind of finished, although it's unclear.
