I also started having this issue after upgrading from 15.10 to 16.04.
Sometimes I can see the flicker of the gnome-screensaver-dialog showing
up, but most of the time I just see my previous screen, without anywhere
to type in the password, and everything locked (nothing is interactive).

I thought it is worth mentioning that when I resize the window to
smaller and then maximize again, it gets zippier for a while -- helpful

Just reiterating that the problem is still there, in version
4:3.9.91-0ubuntu2 for jaunty
As z pointed out, many of the menus get populated as a file is opened,
but still there seems to be missing many templates: like C++ from a
Makefile, or import a project.
This renders the package mostly

My video card is an nvidia 8800gtx.
To avoid the problem, I have to start compiz manually from a terminal:
$ compiz compiz.out
Then it works normally.

Exact same problem here. I tried stopping tracker and removing all the
contents of the ~/.local/share/tracker/ directory and restarted.
But some moments later, I started to get the same pop ups as well.

I also used to have the problem -- see upstream report.
Since the update in intrepid, a couple of days ago, to evolution (et al)
2.24.3) the problem mysteriously disappeared -- or at least Evolution
memory stays stable after a few hours of use.

You are right about Ubuntu using the UUIDs to mount by default. What
happened in my case is that the drive was installed later (after Ubuntu
was already installed)... so i simply formatted it (ext3) and mounted it
myself, using the /dev/sdXn style partition reference.

and creating another node under /dev/evms/sdb1.

Just upgraded from Feisty do Gutsy (2.6.22-14).
When X tries to start, it just complains that it can't find kernel
module nvidia (nvidia.ko) -- there is no such file in linux-
restricted-modules, according to dpkg --listfiles
I tried reinstalling (apt-get install --reinstall) linux-restricted-
Some more digging and I found out that it has already been reported in
bug #68053.

Probably a SWT problem, or some dependency.
My machine, a edgy/amd64 is freshly installed.
After some trying I notice the same problem happens in Azureus, another
swt user. I tried running it with strace, but couldn't find anything
obviously wrong (like a missing library)
I had the same problem, in a amd64 edgy system.
So, for the other illiterate on dpkg-buildpakcage processes like me, I
did the following, and it seems to have worked:
1) go to a temporary source directory
# cd ~/src
2) get the source
# apt-get source eclipse
3) apply the patch, see bug
