A workaround is not relevant because the users that are hit by this bug don't know that they need a workaround until it is too late. I don't remember ever installing Linux and knowing beforehand that I need to apply a workaround to circumvent the installer. I know I sound like a broken record

Looking at the recent comments, I think you are taking this to the wrong direction. There is no point in discussing a workaround for this bug, because even knowledgeable users who know how to apply those workarounds won't know that they even need to look for a workaround before it is too late.
