When using the upgrade in update-manager to upgrade from Ubuntu Studio
12.04 to 12.10, the metas photography and publishing are not included.
This confusing because the the old graphics meta included some of the
photography apps. So effectively the grphics meta is not updated

Quantal Final Oct12.1. When installing onto a second drive (removable
in this case) The boot information goes on the internal drive instead of
the install drive. When the second drive is removed the internal
Ubuntu studio no longer uses GDM in any of it supported versions that I
know of the last LTS uses lightdm as does the current cycle.

addition to the the selection of themes... there are about 10 to choose
from so that is a non-issue. The new dark theme is closer to what Ubuntu

xnox: As far as I know thunar is not running when install is done from
the boot menu. So whatever plymouth leaves is the background on the
screen, but there is nothing running to refresh when ubiquity changes
the window size. I suppose a command to blank the whole screen to black
would be the best

Sorry, but I can't find the needs-upstream-testing tag. I must be looking in
the wrong place. I was able to put in kernel-bug-exists-upstream so maybe my
data collection over wrote it.
The upstream kernel is:

to be more clear, I was not getting the pulse errors with either the 3.2

only upward number I see is the pid. It does look like the memory use
goes up and stays there when the screen saver goes off.

I didn't think I said that memory was consumed after the screen saver
has stopped. Just that the amount of swap used showed that something had
been pushed there at some time. The only thing different between two
runs was the screen saver. With the screen saver turned off over 12
hours top shows

After installing ulatencyd, when I use qjackctl or jack_control to start
jackdbus, the mouse can not be moved or clicked. The keyboard has no
effect either. But pressing the soft-power switch does bring up the
logout/shutdown dialog... though I can't select any options from

original problem is in the hardware and not a software bug. That is the
ath9k hardware as used by some computers is at fault and the wireless
can not be used at the same time as lower latency audio. However, what

Sorry, extra comment. I could live with wireless off while recording or
other audio use if ath9k was fixed to be turned off. I should not have
to unload and reload the module to do that.
