After getting really upset because of this issue (see comment #88), I
decided to fully erase my HD and reinstall Ubuntu 12.04.1 again. Then I
installed all applications I've been using before, and this problem
fully disappeared. No idea of what was causing it, really. It remembers
me those times
Possible solution (I'm testing this)
editing /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules like so (MAC addresses

I'm not sure why you come to that conclusion, but I always authorize the

I encountered this bug too, and it broke several scripts in my set-up.
It seems that, when no input files are given (meaning input from
standard input, or pipe), grep -r and rgrep search from *: all the
files in the current directory.
This is an easy workaround, that does not break any

Since the upgrade to Xubuntu 12.10 (packet evince 3.6.0-0ubuntu2), the
vertical scrollbar has a height that is strictly proportional to the
visible fraction of the document. This means that becomes vanishingly
small when the document is very long. I did not have this behavior

I just installed the latest driver from dturvene on my system (Dell
Vostro 3360) and it works alright, but there are still some issues:
- Only two finger scroll works, edge scroll does not.
- Pointer movement is, as described by FCG, kind of choppy. Sometimes it stops
moving and doesn't respond
Just want to add that after trying the patch by bgamari my touchpad is
still recognized as PS/2 Generic Mouse. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 x64 on
a Dell Vostro 3360.
Here is the listing show in /proc/bus/input/devices:
