In upstream GLIBC there are two flags in the defaults:
AI_ADDRCONFIG: It is most probably *not* a good default, as it's only
useful for applications that have to set the hints anyway so that they
only recieve TCP or UDP addrinfo structures, not both.

If i kill k3b or terminate through X (titlebar button, confirming
termination), the system recovers. It's only k3b that hangs.

Tried VESA, no success (it never worked for me asi i said).
Anyway I cannot edit xorg.conf if it's a livecd, I have chosen safe vesa
in the boot menu.
The main ubuntu bug isn't that the X server doesn't start. It's that the
screen goes back to Loading Linux Kernel... instead of showing at
least
SSH might also be managed with them. Any ideas?

My Amarok displays no message at all. It just skips all flac files.
It plays ogg and mp3 well.

am using GnuPG to manage keys, encryption, digital signatures, etc.
Both are asking me for a password to unencrypt some/all information
(keys, passwords, other).

increasing amount of memory (i killed it on 85%).

I wanted to use xubuntu with a spare computer. It is and old pentium
machine with s3 trio 64 graphics card.
