While installing FreeIPA I came accross two situations that turned out
to be timing problems. In both cases, the installation procedure was
attempting to access the certificate server immediately after a restart,
and the server was not listening.
The first one is at step 10

I quit trying to install IPA on the RPi, and I went back to a KVM based
VM, with a downloaded Xenial cloud image. So now I get past importing CA
chain but then this:

OK! That patch worked on the RPi as is. So I got past that problem.

I've had that problem since my first install of Trusty continuing on to
Utopic.
I'd like to add an observation I made while testing different kernels.
This error _does not_ occur when you select the kernel to boot.
Ex:
- Boot the computer
- At the Grub menu, stop the count down and select the
Third kernel fails.

cgconfig.conf to load a vm.
And while I'm at it, /mnt is really not a good place to put cgroups.

I tried the proposed fix on the lucid package by manually modifying
/etc/cgconfig.conf and restarting the cg services and libvirt-bin.
That appears to fix the reported problem, but it also uncovers another.
The vm attempts to start but fails with the following message:

I recompiled hardy kernel 2.6.24-11.17 for gutsy on my system and I'm
pleased to report that this problem appears to have been fixed. So far
every operation that Oopsed now terminates normally. I also watched as
free -s1 reached and crossed the 1GB threshold several times. So I'm
happy that hardy

You're absolutely correct. By itself the solution I suggested does not
work. It turns out I inadvertently left the following line in my .vimrc:
set runtimepath+=/usr/share/vim/addons
By itself too that line does not work. But together, Bingo! And that's
probably preferable to making a
Judging by the comment in changelog it seems to have been fixed in
0.3.4-8 now in hardy.

For what it's worth there are unofficial Debian packages for 5.08 Beta
at:
deb http://felipe.sateler.com/debian unstable main

The author is a member of Debian Multimedia so eventually those packages
will make their way into unstable. More
Here's a work around:
- In $HOME/.vim create a directory named ftdetect
- Create a symbolic link in $HOME/.vim/ftdetect to
/usr/share/vim/addons/ftdetect/vo_base.vim
In code:
mkdir -p $HOME/.vim/ftdetect
ln -s /usr/share/vim/addons/ftdetect/vo_base.vim $HOME/.vim/ftdetect/vo_base.vim
