I am not sure if this is relevant, however one Nautilus change I think
would be very useful would be to have as default the opening of folders
in a new tab when you double-click.
Of course you would still have the option of just viewing the files in

I have followed the DebuggingKernelSuspend article as well, but failed
to notice anything resembling the wanted debugging info.
Both my dmesg outputs are in attachments.

sent. But that percentage never changes. It says 0% sent for several
seconds and then at once it says 100%. There's no count up!

I've got the same problem... When I've used vlc, it's like its lock on the
powermanager remains even after closing the program. I verified that vlc was
really shutdown...
Anyway, i only get the 'Playing some media' message once.

Fwiw, I get this behaviour reproducibly:
- reboot, then run pm_suspend - backlight failure on resume
- run pm_suspend with quirks - correct resume
- run pm_suspend without quirks again - correct resume

Happens systematically on Thinkpad X40 upgraded to latest Kubuntu 8.10:
Playing a video causes the screen to go dark. The video starts to play
and after a few second the screen goes black. The backlight is still on
but nothing is shown on the screen. The computer is
