The system had been working fine but today after upgrade to 11.10 the desktop
environment was not good for me so wanted to revert back to ubuntu 11.04 but
that did not happen installer crashed almost after copying 70 % of the files.

open terminal and they reinstall dkms, in my case it was not there.
open terminal and then type
sudo apt-get install dkms
it will ask for password type your pw and then it will install dkms. Your

it is mp3 as that is what i am using, recently it stopped playing with the
following terminal output

it will remain
for that particular song again it will restart on the change of the song file
Looks like both are related with change of song as and when song change
occurs VLC player goes back to its default confiuration I am using
Intrepid ubuntu 8.10

There is no graphics equaliser available in totem which is disheartening
because it is the default player and players like audacious and VLC are
having these features then why not our default player

Every mp3 file is played for 2 secs then sound is missing for 1/2 sec
again it starts giving sound. Using ubuntu 8.10 intrepid. Sort of sound
freezes for half second @ every 2 sec ehereas totem is playing fine but
it does not have graphics equaliser.
