Bug #933973 has been named a duplicate of this one. Not sure why but I
will post this here as that bug is not confirmed.
Had upgrades for the same packages today in Xubuntu 12.04 and in Debian
Wheezy.
The Xubuntu packages, all related to cups and bluez will not install in
a chroot environment.
Well as for today there is no applet at all under Xubuntu.
I am pretty sure my connection is up and running well. Would have been
hard to get this page up if not.
Should we file another bug or is this good enough?

I have Xubuntu 12.04-testing installed on my external drive.
It gets updated in a chroot environment from my main drive under Debian
testing.
All packages seem to work fine except for cups, blues-cups and anyother
cups related package. They all throw a dpkg code 1 error.

Rebooted instead of going straight from recovery to desktop.
Got no failed to install notice from apport.
These 2 installs were both upgraded from another OS in a chroot
environment. I knew from errors there of this failure to install.

This is a great concern to me as I use a custom menu and a set partition
table. I can boot to any partition that I install to as there is a menu
entry for that partition already in place.

Yes I am aware what telling it not to install does.
What I am saying is that it did not install on the MBR but did screw up
the grub that was installed on the MBR. This caused me to not be able

I run on a usb HDD with several testing OS' installed. Using "safely
remove drive" is very handy. Use it and the entire HDD is removed.
It is easy to tell that it is removed as the screen goes blank when the

For the last few days I have been unable to use Unity on this install.
I am on the Ubuntu Desktop now.
When I log in to the Unity session I go to white screen, drive lights
continue, screen flickers once, drive lights go off. tty2 to reboot.

This applies to all applications that you open with gksudo from terminal
and should have a password box pop up if opening from a menu.
This means that the Login Screen, for instance, with the "unlock" on the
box will come up but Gparted will not.
Same error message on all that will not come up.
With all the changes going on in Ubuntu and new people coming in it
really is time to update the default bookmarks.
This seem like a good list that include solutions for common problems
that people have on a first time install.

Get rid of plymouth and it will all go away. It sure has on the one
install on this same hardware that I Purged Plymouth on. That is the
only one of 10 installs of 10.04 that boots fast and easy.

This is more than a problem with the bug script. Plymouth is not the
last thing I see on shutting down or rebooting.
The last thing I see is text telling me that plymouth was shut down with
the kill signal.

The only thing I can add is that I have 5 installations of 10.04 on the
same hardware (1 box using an external enclosure for the test platform)
and I have one installation that never has a problem. It is very
similar to 2 other installs (triple redundancy as I do use this as my
production OS durin
I was removing and installing grub-common and removing grub and installing
grub-pc in an upgraded 8.04>10.04 installation when this occurred.
Terminal ouput below;

This is just the same bug on another install of an upgrade from 8.04.4
to 10.04 on the same hardware.

I am on amd64. Upgraded with "apt-get dist-upgrade". Synaptic running
when notification came up. Here I am.
Cleaned up some things in synaptic and am installing stellarium through
it right now. I do not have a clue what this is that crashed unless it
has something to doe with that wonderfully

My monitor did not shut down. Did not get message. Hit enter after a
minute wait. Nothing happened.
Used Alt+SysRq+b to reboot.

Pretty much the same deal on the same hardware, different 10.04 install.
Main difference - clean update/upgrade today and a clean, normal boot to
desktop.

Just ran update/upgrade on this 10.04 install. Got an error at the end
that had "bad hash sum".
Reboot, login came up, entered password, screen went to gdm background
