I was able to verify this bug/problem by multiple sources before posting
this bug report. It is not only listed on multiple bug reports already,
but everyone that I know has complained to me about this very same

Sorry for so many posts, but I also wanted to note that this bug applies
to the Dell Inspiron E1505 as well, and probably many other Dell
notebooks... I know this because I have both a 1501 and an E1505

fine on my Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook that has an ATI Radeon Xpress

During boot of the Ubuntu Feisty Fawn Beta Live CD, (Maybe after
installing to a hard disc also, but not confirmed yet) the little
progress bar that bounces side to side leaves a little orange artifact
on the left hand side of the progress bar box. It ruins the pollished
feel

enter my Proxy Username and Password. It is faded out and will not
allow me to select it. This prevents me from using the network proxy,
thus prevents internet access.

I had this problem with my Dell Inspiron 1501 and finally realized that
it happens when a SD card is in the built in slot in the notebook. It
boots Windows fine, but Ubuntu locks every time with CPU Soft Lockup
During Boot. My terminal output is attached...

If you have a SD card in the built-in slot of the Dell Inspiron 1501
notebook, (maybe others) Ubuntu will boot the live CD without a CPU 0
fault and Ubuntu will NOT install. It will error out while trying to
boot the live CD. It will n
I wanted to add that although "pci=nomsi" does work, the average new
user will not know this and assume that Ubuntu is broken.
Also, if a SD card is in the built-in slot, the user will not connect
the two and assume Ubuntu is broken when it locks up during every live
CD boot and/or install.
