Well, there is one issue still in here.
When I do use both `snd_intel_dspcfg.dsp_driver=1
snd_hda_intel.model=alc255-acer` kernel parameters:
1) VERY BAD: there is no mic available in sound settings :(
2) GOOD: when I connect something into audio jack, an overlay asking for
device type pops up

no, this is improbable to be related because when 5.4.0-42 is booted,
these messages are there id `dmesg`, too.
I've made this workaround so far:
1) sudo nano /etc/default/grub
* GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
* GRUB_DEFAULT=saved
* GRUB_SAVEDEFAULT=true
2) sudo update-grub
so booting 5.4.0-42 now and waiting
PS: I've noticed several nvme related info on boot screen:

At work, we got quite recently one machine hanging on "ALERT! ... UUID
does not exist ..." with kernels 5.4.0-45 and 5.4.0-47. Only 5.4.0-42 is
booting now.

Since upgrade to 19.10 window tasking (ALT+TAB) is very unclear when you
have "Blackbird" theme activated in "Appearance" - because you cannot
see which window you are about to "tab" to, there is no visible
highlight any more :(

HTML input helper does not
Has this been fixed already? If I am about to spend my time in configuring
Remote Apps on my Windows server, I would like to know if it's worth the time,
because if clipboard is not working, it is almost useless, since CTRL+C|V|X is
a critically important feature...

By the way, when I remove "pci=nomsi" from /etc/default/grub 4 "system
crash" reports pop up right after every reboot... I believe it is

OK, my post #8 is not valid any more. As @melvinh has mentioned above,
It has stopped working recently again :(

I am affected, too. Manually importing the certificate as suggested in
#82 has helped in sites like Amazon.com, but does not solve the problem.

Unfortunatelly, in my case, the workaround described works only for
first hibernation after fresh boot :/ Any next hibernation would fail
ending-up with a login screen like if I had just locked the desktop.
In dmesg I see some weird info regarding nouveau - see eg. log time time

After upgrading to 16.10 (from 16.04) hibernation has stopped working.
I've been using hibernation for years already without problems (with
some initial tuning).
I am talking about using "pm-hibernate"
There is a workaround to make it work I've described here:
Unfortunately I cannot tell since I'm not on 16.04 yet, I'll try to
report when I switch to the newest *buntu.
