This happens to me as well. What i found out so far is, that it seems to
work with some time zones. with my time zone (germany, berlin, UTC+01)

I am affected by this bug as well. On my Computer it happens randomly.
That means, even if the applets load well at the beginning, after a
while and sporadically a second battery indicator applet appears. I have
this problem only with this applet, never had another one doubled. Also

thanks for your attention on this bug. I found the problem myself. I
linked /tmp to /home/tmp with a symlink. Apparmor in this case denies
the creation of the guest-folder in /home/tmp because it does not work
with symlinks. I now linked /tmp to /home/tmp with mount -o bind

Using a passphrase instead of /dev/urandom is possible but it's not an
acceptable solution.
Also, what i do not understand, why /dev/mapper/swap is also not working?
I understand that if i use /dev/urandom
I just got it fixed now. I found on another website the tip that the
resume-file in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d is not working together with
encrypted swap (swap encrypted with /dev/urandom).
The author of the tip wrote: delete or comment out (#) the RESUME=

work. Neither for skype nor for cheese.
And, what i wrote above is wrong. The 0.5.1 of libv4l does not make
ekiga to work for me. it only worked once, but i closed it and started
it again, and now the green screen

It installed fine. First boot was with a nice boot-splash but after reboot,

like i wrote in my case the preload-trick does not work, i always get a
green picture. i tested with latest intrepid: cheese, camorama, ekiga
2+3 and skype. with or without preload - none of the programs work.
So i guess, there must be something wrong and the fix does not work for

do apt-get install aptitude which is kind of funny ;-)

have forgot to mention, that this was working better in dapper. now at
bootup, boot stops, i have to wait about 15-20 seconds, then it switches
to console, where i can enter the passphrase. in dapper this was very
quickly wihout waiting so long.
Also forgot, i use cryptsetup without luks.

My root is fine, encrypted /home still make some problems.
Booting up without quite and without splash i can see Starting
early crypto disks and then nothing happens. The Enter passphrase
never appear. If i bootup with splash and in quite mode, then
after some testing i have to correct my posts above. for me it works
(cryptsetup without luks) but mostly not. this means on boot - mostly
the Enter passphrase message does not appear until i press some
buttons. system seems to hang at Starting early crypto disks. only a
very few times the message

i am using feisty and i have my /home-partition encrypted with
cryptsetup, but not with luks. i have to enter the passphrase manually
on boot.
At system start, the bootsplash switches to console, where i can see the
message : Starting
ok, adding vol_id does the trick.
i now installed feisty and there is no need to add vol_id anymore. but i
got another problem.

similar message) but it didn't go automaticaly to the next step, Enter

i installed libbtctl 0.8.2 and also gnome-bluetooth 0.8
but this didn't help. if i run gnome-obex-send, the gui pop up, but no
device is found.
Sometimes it is finding the bluetooth-mouse, but not the telephone, and
i know this bug is marked as fixed but i think the bug-report should be
reopened because the fix don't work.
i have edgy eft, the necessary bluetooth-stuff installed.
if i run gnome-obex-send, the gui pop up, but i cannot see my telephone.

a little more info:

I did what mish says above, but for me the fix don't work.
i get a command prompt, with this:
Enter Password: Enter Password: there must be a error, cause it seems
that the second Enter Password is inserted automaticaly.when i then
try to enter my real password (plaintext) i get an error about a
according to a tip from somebody, i forgot to change the line:
exec env ON_VT=yes /usr/bin/openvt -f -c `fgconsole` $0 $@
to
exec env ON_VT=yes /usr/bin/openvt -f -c `fgconsole` -w $0 $@
Now it works, but in plaintext like some other users posted before.
maybe this can be changed in the near
