I think our machines are quite different but I got gutsy up and running
on a HP Pavilion 6525sc. I got working sound, direct rendering with 90
FPS in games etc. Maybe you should post more details about the computer,
like what graphics card do you have?

figured out what the problem is. They told me about this X.org input
driver called evdev. When I switched to this input driver the problems

I was able to fix this problem after talking to some friendly people on
IRC. What I did was basically:
sudo apt-get --reinstall install libasound2 libasound2-dev
and then I rebooted (still using the new kernel in GRUB menu).
Apparently that was enough to fix it.

Then I get a much better experience because XMMS actually displays an

I just installed Gutsy tribe 5 to the harddrive. I press reload and mark
all updates in synaptic, wait like 20 minutes for it to finish (no
errors). Then I started a terminal, used nano to create the simplest

Another noteworthy thing is that when I first tried to create the
screenshot I tried saving it to the desktop and that didn't work (which
is usually does). Could it be something silly that I'm running out of
disk space on the ramdisk or something? I got 2GB RAM on this machine
and df doesn't show
Brian, is that the same version that I used when I got the error in the
screenshot? If I do ntfsresize -V I still get 1.13.1, how did you get
that other version number?

I just booted Gutsy Tribe 5 and the sound doesnt work. It didnt work
before or anything though. Basically, if I double click Experience
Ubuntu.ogg in the example files the video player will just shutdown
