Agree. It looks especially horrible with tabmixplus installed - the tabs
on the top row overlap the tabs on the bottom row.

udev creates the scanner device with the owner:group root:root, when it
should have been root:scanner.

A better way to do it is to add scanner to your user's groups (in teh
user control panel, giver scanner permissions), however, udev creates
the scanner device with the owner:group root:root, when it should have
been root:scanner.

Today I cannot connect to my home wireless at all. It uses WEP. Since
installing hardy I've always been able to connect to my girlfriend's
home network, which uses WPA.
I'm getting lines like this in my system log:

I can successfully connect to my home network with wlassistant, but the
automatic dchp connection doesn't work, and I have to run sudo
dhclient after connecting. But it still seems to be dropping out
regularly (ever few minutes), and generally having trouble connecting to

This fixed the problem for me. Preference file doesn't update when
upgrading. After deleting
$HOME/.openoffice.org2/user/config/javasettings_Linux_x86.xml OO.org
correctly re-creates it and works with any JRE.

sorry, Perhaps I didn't explain very well. Xev reports the keycodes
correctly, so it is working, but the symbols aren't set. I'm sure if I
used xmodmap I could get them working, but it should work by default.

have a feeling that this may actually be three bugs:
- Scott Hilleard's one, which a number of other people, including myself, are
experiencing (Intel)
- Tom Vetterlein's one, which Plegm is also experiencing (intel)
- DanM's one, which is on a different video card (nvidia)

Me too. I have had a problem where when going on standby, or 2/3 of the way
shutting down the screen goes blank, no response, with a flashing console
cursor in the top left.
After about 1.5-2 minutes, it continues to shut down, with the normal kubuntu
artwork.

nah, you're right, It's probably unrelated. I already have Peter's one
installed, and it fixed the grey blocks issue for me. This issue is
probably something else. I'll post a bug.

xine-lib apparently has jack support, but not under ubuntu. It would be
very useful if this could be included by default in the standard xine-
lib for ubuntu.

I get the same problem described by DanM for sleep, and the same
problem described in the original post for hibernation (screen flicks on
an off). Hibernate worked fine in feisty. I'm running a realtime kernel,
but I was in feisty as well, and didn't have this problem.

I have this problem in kubuntu gutsy, with a horizontal panel (bottom).
I can fix it by moving the panel to the right side, then moving it back
again. sometimes when it starts it figures it out itself anyway. let me
know if I can provide any more info.

I'm still getting this on the latest updates for gutsy (kubuntu).
The bug is serious, it makes it impossible to shut down, or hibernate laptops
(happens nearly every time on my laptop, a dell d410, with a
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML
Express
0.3.4 is out, with heaps of new and important features. this is a
commonly used package, and is difficult to install via source.
please update ASAP.
