i tried it after unther batch of updates and it did the same thing-
tried but distorted. i attached a screenshot
th symbol thing is in the works... i am a newbie to the debugger, the
wiki was kinda vague/outdated
** Attachment added: Screenshot-2.png
it tried to run after i installed updates a couple hours ago. it gave me
video off of the webcam but it was highly distorted. after a reboot, it
went back to doing what it was doing before.
tried it again to make a backtrace... it locked up and i had to kill it
manually.

Public bug reported:
I first found this bug on my Eee pc 1000 HE. cheese would immediately
crash upon being lauched. i tried the camera using the xp half of the
dualboot; it worked fine.
I saw the same thing on my desktop. It has a tv tuner card, which for
whatever reason cheese defaults to,
well, i tried running cheese via terminal on the x64 desktop. it first
went to a blank screen, then i switched it to the usb camera, and it
crashed.
the terminal said:
la...@larry-desktop64:~$ cheese

Binary package hint: xscreensaver-data-extra
i was disappointed to find my favorite screensaver, BSOD, to be missing,
even after installing xscreensaver-data-extra and xscreensaver-gl-extra.
this is only occurring in the most recent package in Ubuntu desktop
10.10.
whoops... did not know that... my bad there.

i was installing updates on my ubuntu 10.10 tower (i686), and it always
locks when updating initramfs-tools. it is creating some boot file (i do
not know off the top of my head, i will post it as soon as i know what
it is) when it locks. i tried apt-get, it made me run dpkg
here is the text of the bug when i run sudo dpkg --configure -a :
la...@larry-server:~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
[sudo] password for larry:
Setting up initramfs-tools (0.96.1ubuntu4) ...
update-initramfs: deferring update (trigger activated)
Processing triggers for initramfs-tools ...
still have the bug on my 1000HEb, fully updated. i have not tried the
grub patch, i use my ethernet too much to risk it.

Most operating systems these days have a Graphic equalizer, and many
have complained about Ubuntu's lack of one.
on Ubuntu forums, they solved it as a package was made containing an
equalizer:

I think it should be added to
