I guess this has been fixed in later releases. I have not installed 7.10
since this was reported. It was not hard to fix anyway, since just
turning off all networking would work.

This error is caused by the CiscoVPN client we run on the network. We
have reproduced it on more computers.
The error is not only for firefox, but for any network communication.
We have not managed to isolate what exactly happens with the VPN client,
that causes this.

will not hang the computer. This was caused by the fact that my computer
got an IP from my router, but was not connected to the internet.

fine, but when I change URL, the whole computer locks up. Num-lock and

On an older Dell laptop with a RT73 chipset wireless USB dongle,
wireless works fine on boot. If I open pidgin, within 20 seconds the
wireless is gone, and dhclient wlan0 reports that there is no such
device. If I cntrl-alt-F5 to tty5 its just tons of repeating messages
