88E8056 PCIe. The controller is recognized by both the system and my
router, yet there is no throughput or actual connection to speak of.
Slapped in an older PCI NIC, disabled the Marvell in network

only in 64-bit and working perfectly fine under 32-bit version of
Jaunty. It detects the hardware but unable to acquire network address
even when DHCP is enabled in the router.

I'm using kernel 2.6.24-19-generic (Hardy) and I'm still being hit by
the same problem. It looks like a race condition or missing interrupt.
My network service stops working, if I do sudo ifconfig eth0 down and
then sudo ifconfig eth0 up it cures it for a while.

I recently updated to Kubuntu 8.04 with Kernelversion 2.6.24-19. Today
I switched back to my internal Marvell controller and I will test its
behaviour. I just downloaded an Kubuntu Image with no problems, so it
might be that in Kernel 2.6.24-19 the problem is already fixed.

I have good news for everyone. I have installed Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid
Alpha 5 from disc and although a little incomplete it is running
completely stably for the last 5 days, overnight sometimes. I have been
running my worst enemies during my kernel panic period i.e. Azureus Vuze

Sorry for the lack of response lately. I haven't had the time to install
Hardy alpha2 on my machine yet. I will definitely report back here when
I upgrade to Hardy RC or full release. The only other comment I have for

Hardy Heron Alpha2 was recently released. It contains an updated
version of the kernel. You can download and try the new Hardy Heron
Alpha2 release from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/alpha-2/ .
You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. If you
can, please verify

I found that when copying large files over my network to my NAS drive
using the terminal, they would finish correctly, but when using Nautilus
to copy the files it would always bring my network connection down. Not
sure why this is... still happening with current fully updated Gutsy and
