I'm using kernel 2.6.24-19-generic (Hardy) and I'm still being hit by the same problem. It looks like a race condition or missing interrupt. My network service stops working, if I do sudo ifconfig eth0 down and then sudo ifconfig eth0 up it cures it for a while. What triggers the problem are high
