I believe I am encountering the issue described here. I have a MacBook
Pro 8,2 (late 2011) with a Radeon 6600M series card and I am attempting
to use it in Ubuntu 12.10. I have tried all of the steps listed on many
websites including the PPA workaround instructions from above. Those

but after reboot unity just crased as usual :(

I have some of these problems on Radeon HD7750 12.10 Quantal - fglrx-
updates from the repository works, but not as well as 12.8 from the ATI
website in 12.04 Precise which works fine (I get strange flickery
effects in X-Plane Flight Sim under certain conditions in Quantal).

I have the same problem but with amd 7970M series gpu. I did fresh
installation of Ubuntu 12.10 and neither the Ubuntu restricted graphic
drivers work or the latest d river available from amd website work .
However , only open source drivers work but my gpu run hot since its

BTW, if you want a resolution for drivers for the old cards(#1058040),
I can create a new package (e.g. fglrx-legacy) with the latest version
of ATI drivers that worked with these cards and then ask people to
install these :D
Just let me know which drivers were the last working ones
